Join us at First United Methodist Church of Whitesboro on Sunday, September 27, immediately following worship, for a special workshop led by Rev. Carol Montgomery of the Texas Methodist Foundation.
Losing a spouse is an incredibly difficult experience, and there are often important practical decisions that must be made during an already overwhelming time. This workshop will provide helpful guidance about the steps that need to be taken following the death of a spouse, including securing assets, locating important documents, notifying Social Security and insurance companies, and making funeral arrangements.
We will also discuss important financial and legal responsibilities, such as updating accounts and titles, working with an estate attorney and CPA, and reviewing your own will, power of attorney, and beneficiary information. The workshop will also address longer term planning, financial considerations, digital accounts, and important documents to gather.
Whether you are preparing ahead of time, walking alongside someone who has recently lost a spouse, or simply want to be better prepared, we invite you to join us for this informative and practical conversation.
